I had a home
once
just like yours
a wife
kids
a warm hearth
I had a home once
where we celebrated
birthdays
thanksgiving dinners
and christmas gifts
I had a home once
that sheltered us
from Nature
A place
we called our own
I had a home once
not just four walls
and a roof
but a loving
nurturing space
I had a home once
and I had
stories to share
a life to look
forward to
I had a home once
just like yours…
An estimated 100 million people are homeless worldwide.* 100 million people who were like you and me at some point in their lives, forced onto the streets because of poverty, lack of employment opportunities, war, mental disorders, substance abuse, lack of affordable housing, and mortgage foreclosures. These were people with regular lives, a family, a name, an identity. Now they just roam about the streets with one defining tag and a bag full of memories.
