My special place

P10302292 My special place

There are places
You go to
And know you’ll
Never be able
To visit again.

Places that you
Want to soak in
Make them one
With your being
Through your eyes
Into your soul.

These are places
That remain
Vivid in your
Mind’s eye
Each detail
Like you were there

You take pictures
And look at them
Over and over
The experience
The emotions
And the perfectness.

There are places
You go to
And know you’ll
Never be able
To visit again.

But then
By sheer chance
You find yourself
Back in those mountains
Those forests
Those roadways
Those trees
And there is your
Special place
Just as you left it
Years ago
Waiting patiently
For your return.

The lake waters
As still as the first
The mountains
As tall
And pristine
The beauty
As sublime.

And you begin to
Relive those
For real
This time.

    Dear Mansi:

So very true. I can recount many instances like that where I know that I will never visit those places again. One tries to desperately cling on to the place by clicking pictures, trying to touch and partake the place, try hard to store nooks and crannies for posterity but still . . .

Coming to India from Belfast has given me many such places. I know I will see them again but then who knows.

This is another post where I had to check and recheck whether you or me had written it.

    Joy always,
