A fly makes its throne
on your nose
you twitch your
facial muscles
you crinkle your nose
you try to lick
it off with a giant
sweep of your tongue
but it stays put
you sit dismayed
cross eyed
looking at that
little creature
with tiny wings
who’s more powerful
than you are.
A little housefly
that can move freely
sit where it wants to
feast on what it
pleases and explore
its world with ease.
Unlike you
paralyzed from the
neck down
numb and still
cold as a statue
with a moving head
and a working brain.
A lifeless life
a flightless existence.
Both alive
but the value
of both’s lives
so different.
This first scene from Guzaarish — a Hindi movie about a disabled person petitioning for euthanasia — has stayed with me.
Doesn’t a person have the right to determine if his life is worth living? And if it is a dependent, painful life, shouldn’t he be allowed to end it?

Nice post and very nice of you to have such considerate feeling on such ailment. Nice presentation with poem and also clipping.
That was really a beautiful post. It had a smooth flow in it. Enjoyed my stay here
By the way, hope you enjoy my post too –
To hold you in my arms, to promise you my love!
