Forgive and forget

May 25, 2010

Move on
Let the healing begin
So what if he raped you
And beat you senseless?
So what if he violated you
When you were 8
And he was your grandfather?

Go to your happy place
And pretend
He never cheated on you
That he never felt another woman
That he alienated himself
Physically and emotionally.

Sing a song and don’t think
About your uterus
Of the baby he forced you to abort
Or the child he forced you to carry
So his family name could
Stay alive
While you died inside.

Seek solace in the here and now
Live in the moment
Despite the fact that you are all alone
With your scars
That friends and family
Can no longer see
Will no longer see.

Pray, be thankful for your life
You’re alive for a reason
Use your positive energy
To rebuild your life
If you try harder
The nightmares will go away.

Be strong, keep your chin up
You have nothing to be ashamed of
So what if you feel
Rejected, used, hurt, broken
Beyond repair.

Be your own woman
You need no one
Only in your heart you know
You do.

Take a deep breath
And let it all go
Forget it ever happened
Start anew.

What doesn’t kill you
Makes you stronger
Accept your destiny.

Because they tell you
It’s good

A very thought-provoking piece of writing; perhaps not pleasurable to read yet astounding in its content.

Mansi, It’s true we can face some bad things in our life but forgiveness is the answer to move forward. Burying what happened never works those pains only come back & haunt you for the rest of your life….you can never bury them deep enough. This truth I know for certain!! I wrote a blog on forgiveness & the processes I’ve used to forgive…check it out.

Thanks, Bill. I just find it hard to swallow when people try to empathize when they haven’t been through the pain and loss some women experience and then tell them to move on. Some scars never heal and those who haven’t experienced it first hand, just don’t know what it feels like, no matter how genuine their concern and willingness to help might be.

    wow what heart touching thoughts,
and what an emotional way to express it
some lines made me tremble and shiver at the helpless ness of women

Tough read. So much pain and the plethora of soothing words that often accompany these acts are pure crap. Forgiveness takes time. Forgetting? Ain’t gonna happen.

Time is the best healer…I’ve learned that through personal experience. But some wounds go deep and leave everlasting scars…maybe no one can see them, but they are there. Thanks for stopping by, Cheryl.
