A day to vent

May 20, 2010

Many people piss me off.

And yes, stating that reminds me how judgmental I can be, but truly there are some people you just can’t be around without having the urge to whack them on the head.

You want examples?

I’ll give you some:woman driving car adjusting mirror applying make up2501 A day to vent

1. Drivers putting on makeup, texting, fixing their hair, talking on the phone, eating, dressing up or down — doing anything but driving. Every time I encounter folks taking care of business while on the road, I feel like whacking them! Don’t they realize that their carelessness is putting others’ (and their own) lives in jeopardy? Texting and calling while driving is illegal in California but transgressors could care less.

2. People who trash public places – besides whacking them I want to ask: is carving your name on that tree or wall really going to be your legacy? Who cares if you were here and if the love of your life at this particular point in time is Amy? This bunch also includes people who throw cans, cigarette butts, wrappers, and leftovers in parks and sidewalks. Are they that hardpressed for time that they couldn’t find a trashcan and dispose off these items? And please don’t even get me started on the mess in public bathrooms. It’s not like the world’s ending and you’re the last one going for a piss.

3. Parents who let their kids rip, break, throw things in other people’s houses and dismiss those activities laughingly — “Oh they are just kids being kids!” Whack them on the head! Understandable if the kid in question is 2 or 3 years old, but at 5 or 6 years of age? They have better sense than that and as a parent you’re not supposed to encourage such wild abandon! And if you think it’s ok…let them do it in your house!

.

beauty pageant trophy winner thumb48824951 A day to vent4. People who spend millions on beauty pageants — a complete waste of time and extremely sexist. I want to whack all the people who have the money, but won’t spend it on alleviating poverty and homelessness, but instead spend it on diamond-studded tiaras and gowns that won’t ever be worn again. What good does it do? Really. Aside from demeaning women and setting physical standards of supposed “beauty” that torment “regular” women, what do these pageants do for anyone?

5. Slackers, those who act like they know it all, and Glenn Beck -I had to put all of them in the same category because these are folks I want to whack the hardest. If you get a paycheck, then you’d better be doing something to deserve it, because the rest of us sure are! And those of you who smack-talk and strut your smart-asses around pretending you know everything — let me tell you: you don’t! None of us know everything there is to know about everything. Heck, you probably don’t even know everything about something! And Glenn Beck — I know there are a lot of people out there who admire you for your “honesty” and “hard taskmaster” personality. I watch you, too, from time to time and all I can say is, “Get real, man.”

So, there you have it. My top five.

I also want to whack people who can’t get their spellings right, but then again, that would make me one of them smart-asses. icon razz A day to vent

Who do you want to whack and why?

I’d love to hear some venting.

Extensive ellipses when used in formal communication always get chopped. In informal or casual writing, it varies.
      Thanks for stopping by :-)

Thanks, Rahul. Loved your selection as well (the pictures were complementary as well) — we have some common people to whack! :D
All the best to you, too!

The first, second and third lot of people deserved to be whacked. Continuing from my blog post, the first lot is on my radar everytime I out on the road driving my bike. Always have to keep and eye out for such people and avoid them as best as possible.
The best way to deal with the second lot is to throw garbage back at them. I did that once when someone threw their cigarette bud that landed on my bike. threw it back in the car and ran away :P ! (not the best thing to do but ya well!)
The third lot, ya well, I hate them. nuff said.:P
    Nice post.
All the best for the contest!!

    • MansiNo Gravatar on May 20, 2010 at 3:25 pm

Thanks, Nishant. Read your post as well — seems like there’s a lot of whacking to be done! :P
All the best to you, too!

Nice post..you have generalized this topic – that’s a good thing..the categories – well people are dumb and selfish..you cannot be with hem nor ignore them!

wish you all the very best for the contest :)

Thanks, Neha. I read yours, too. All the best for the contest :-)

I so agree with you on the driving and the litter; it really annoys me too. Texting and using a mobile phone while driving is illegal here and yet we still see people doing it.

And I hate litter, absolutely hate it. There’s no need to throw something on the floor when there are bins about and in most cases, pockets.

    CJ xx

You said it, Crystal. I remember when I was back in India, there were many times when I would hold on to "my trash" until we got home, just so I wouldn’t add to the free-for-all garbage fest on the streets. It’s the decent thing to do.
      Thanks for stopping by. :-)

Mansi, I understand the frustration but remember that what we get back is part of us & I have found that the things that annoy us the most have some connection to parts of ourselves that we aren’t happy with.

I work hard at not judging anyone. Sure I can get annoyed by some of these people from time to time but as I begin being annoyed I realize it’s only my judgement & I calm back down.

Thanks for the thoughts as always. Have a great weekend.

    Hugs,

    Bill

    • MansiNo Gravatar on May 21, 2010 at 2:40 am

      Oh, Bill, you’re such a pacifist :-)
Thanks for letting me breathe deep and let go.
You have a wonderful weekend, too!

Ah! Let me start: 1. People who don’t know much but pretend that they it all.

    2. The usage of short forms in emails. The same goes for punctuation as well.

    3. Getting ideas and information from a friend and talking about it as if they have discovered it. Gosh.

4.Trying to ‘act’ very open-minded and liberal but saying that homosexuality is sin.

I can be very judgemental. Whenever I read Dalai Lama and his commentary on being compassionate, I feel guilty. I think that I shouldn’t be so strong in my expectations but then I just go about it.

I think I should tone down but then THESE people should be whacked anyway.

Thanks for allowing me to feel the twin emotions of anger and guilt at the same reading.

    Joy always,
    Susan

    • MansiNo Gravatar on May 21, 2010 at 2:41 am

We’re only human, Susan. I try not to get judgmental because that’s what I ask of people all the time, but some folks just get me riled up. Thanks to Bill, I remember to not let it get to me :-)

People who spend millions on beauty pageants…. it is a sheer corporatism where the illusions reach the stage of hallucination and in turn is a marketing strategy of exploitation …
    interesting compilation ….

I agree, but, by the way, you can’t throw cigarettes in a trash because it’s a fire hazard. It’s annoying to have cigarettes underfoot wherever you walk, but that’s one of the things that can’t be helped.
